Overview

The Early Learning Center Head Start program is available for children from low-income families between 3-5 years old, including those with special needs. Click below to determine if your family is income eligible for Head Start. https://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty-guidelines

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Meet the threshold for income poverty guidelines

  • Be a Resident of Baldwin County

  • Be enrolling a child who will be 3 or 4 years of age by the school cutoff date of September 1, 2026

  • Receive SNAP, SSI, Foster, TANF, Homeless

Fees

There is no cost to the parent/guardian

How to Apply Online:

  • The Online Application is only available to new first time applicants.

  • Apply online if you have never completed an application before with the Early Learning Center!

  • Online APPLICATIONS are available to complete starting February 2 - February 13th by 2:00 p.m. for initial enrollment.

  • Please complete your Online Application and submit the required documents during the interview application intake process.

Required Documents

  • Child's Certified Birth Certificate (Original Document)

  • Child's Social Security Card (Original Document)

  • Proof of Residency (Utility bill for the previous month or lease)​

  • Proof of Income (W-2 or 3 pay stubs for the previous month or proof of SNAP benefits (preffered)))​

  • Copy of the child's insurance or Medicaid Card

Applications will be marked as incomplete until all required documents are received.

DO NOT COMPLETE the online application if you completed a 2025-2026 application for your 3 year old and were placed on the WAITLIST.  You must update your application in person. Please bring all documents (Proof of Residency & Proof of Income) for updating and applying for the 2026-2027 School Term.  The Early Learning Center will be available Mon-Fri from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. starting February 2 - February 13, 2026, for updating the application and initial enrollment. We will be available from 8:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on February 12th.
